SCHC D1 - Klein Zwitserland D1 (08-10-2022)

SCHC D1 - HCKZ D1

The last few weeks have proven challenging for Klein Zwitsterland Dames 1, but we are still hungry to get some points on the board.

Note: Het verslag van Dames 1 is deze keer in het Engels, geschreven door Lexie Pickering, Australische speelster uit dames 1.It was a cool Saturday evening at SCHC, and the opponents fan club began to stream in. Stepping out onto the pitch, we knew we were the underdogs, but that gave us all the more reason to give it everything we had. We threw our arms around each other in an attempt to soften the suspense and anxieties in the air, and listened to Nobbsy as she told us we had nothing to lose. All the expectations were on our opponents, so we began the game with the freedom to try, and with the knowledge that we had more to gain. The starting siren sounded and we were off. Within the first minutes of the game SCHC passed a dangerous ball through the middle of KZ’s press, defeating two lines of defence. They’re not a team to waste oppurtunities, and connecting with each other inside the circle with ease, the ball was soon inside the goal. We kept fighting, yet our opponents chemistry was too good, and we conceded two more goals in the first quarter. Into the second quarter and with some spectacular saves from our keeper Alou and an unwillingness to give up, the team only allowed SCHC one goal. Although we never stopped fighting, and there were glimmers of strong plays and connections, there seemed to still be something missing, and our opponents were just too good. We conceded four more goals in the last two quarters and ended the game with a score of 0-8. As a team, we have used this week to reevaluate, to look at each other and to decide what we stand for, and what we want to gain from the rest of the season. There is a new and exciting energy building within KZ Dames 1, and you will see a glimmer of it tonight if you’re lucky enough to join us at our Gold Cup game at HDM @20:30.We are then set to shine on Saturday night @ 18.30 at home against Tilburg. The team is ready to put up a fight, so don’t miss out!
